Do You ENJOY Masking  Light Cans? - We Didn't...

John Whitfield Sr., a Minneapolis-based union painter with nearly thirty years of experience, formed the idea for the PRLC while standing in a wobbly basket. He was taping an 80-foot ceiling at a Minnesota mall, desperately wishing he was back down on the ground. "I remember trying to keep my balance while I was using both hands to get the tape to stick in position," Whitfield days. " I glanced down and thought there HAD to be a better - and faster - way to get the job done."

After he made it back down, he calculated the amount of time and materials he'd consumed taping over his almost 30-year career. He was shocked by what he found. Whitfield estimated that he had used up more than $100,000 over the past three decades. "I designed the prototype of the PRLC that evening, " he says. "Since then, almost every painter who's tried the tool says 'Why didn't I think of that?' and then they offer to buy it from me."
